Why perfume and makeup react with plating

• Alcohol and solvent bases — perfume, deodorant, setting spray, remover — soften the lacquer and micro-pores on a freshly plated surface, especially in the first weeks of wear.
• Oils from face cream, body lotion and sunscreen leave a thin film that traps dust and pigment against the metal.
• Color pigments from foundation, blush and lipstick build up in prong gaps and chain holes. Once baked on by body heat, they are hard to clean without scrubbing, and scrubbing itself removes plating.

At Hengdian (HD) Jewelry, our own standard pieces carry 18K gold plating of 0.1–0.3 micron over polished brass — our factory standard, not an industry benchmark. Custom plating thickness is available on request for harsher wear environments.

A simple routine that keeps plating looking new

1. Apply perfume, lotion or sunscreen first. Let skin dry a few minutes before putting jewelry on.
2. Put jewelry on last, after makeup and hair product — the single biggest difference in real-world wear.
3. Remove rings and bracelets before applying hand or face cream.
4. Wipe each piece with a clean, dry microfiber cloth before storing.
5. Store pieces separately in the OPP bag we ship by default, away from humid bathrooms.

What HD does on the factory side

• Production runs at our Haifeng (Shanwei, Guangdong) factory — 5 production lines and 14 in-house process steps covering casting, polishing, plating and final QC.
• Every batch goes through a second QC at our Guangzhou warehouse before global dispatch.
• All pieces are lead-free. Nickel is a controlled addition and nickel release stays within REACH limits.
• Materials and finished jewelry carry SGS, REACH and CE compliance documentation.

Trade basics for B2B buyers

• Stock items: minimum 6–12 pieces per style; a 5–7 piece free sample is available with freight prepaid by the buyer.
• Custom 18K plated designs: minimum 120 pieces.
• No style-splitting within one order and no mixed-batch wholesale.
• Standard packaging is an OPP bag; custom retail packaging starts at 10,000 pieces.
• We ship from Guangzhou to multiple addresses on one PO, but we do not hold overseas warehouse stock and we do not run dropshipping.
